Imperial London Hotels has moved seven properties onto the Stayntouch cloud property management system, according to a September 25 release from Stayntouch. The last cutover was the 1,379-room Royal National Hotel in Bloomsbury, which Stayntouch describes as the largest hotel in Western Europe and the largest property to join its platform in EMEA to date. For a hotel group weighing a PMS change, a migration that covers a very large hotel and smaller boutique properties in one program is the part worth studying.

What happened

Stayntouch, based in Bethesda, Maryland, announced the completion of a full PMS migration across Imperial’s portfolio. The family-run company has operated in London since 1837 and runs eight hotels in Bloomsbury. Seven of them moved: Morton, Bedford, Tavistock, President, City Sleeper, Royal National and The Imperial. According to the release, each transitioned “on schedule, hotel by hotel,” with Royal National last. Stayntouch calls the phased rollout one with “zero disruption,” which is the vendor’s characterization and not an independently measured result. The release does not give a start date, a total timeline or a contract value.

Two guest-facing tools went live alongside the PMS. Digital Registration Cards let guests complete pre-arrival details and sign their registration digitally, which Stayntouch says cuts front desk wait times across all seven properties. Stayntouch Kiosk gives guests the option to check in and out on their own at Imperial’s busiest property. The release also lists integration work delivered during the rollout: single sign-on, invoicing, purchase order workflows and financial reporting enhancements.

Neil Braude, COO at Imperial London Hotels, said, “Bringing each hotel live on schedule gave our teams confidence in the platform and in the partnership behind it.” Jeff Down, Head of Sales EMEA at Stayntouch, said, “Hotel groups across the region are looking for technology that can manage complexity without making their operations more complicated.”

The properties and the vendor

Imperial describes itself as a family-run company, now managed by the seventh generation of the founding family. The release says it has welcomed guests to Bloomsbury for almost two hundred years, and that its properties include restaurants, bars and event spaces a short walk from the British Museum. It calls its eight hotels full-service mid-range, boutique and lifestyle properties. The eighth is the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury, which is not among the seven that moved.

Stayntouch describes its product as a fully mobile, guest-centric, cloud-native PMS. It says its expanded platform, Stayntouch 2.0, covers direct bookings, payments and integrations. Its customer list in the release includes Sage Hospitality, HEI Hotels & Resorts, EOS Hospitality, Stoney Creek Hotels, Village Hotels, Pod Hotels, First Hotels, the TWA Hotel and Zoku Amsterdam.

Why it matters to operations and technology buyers

Imperial’s sequence, as the vendor reports it, ended with the largest property, after six earlier cutovers. A group planning its own migration can ask any vendor to put the sequence in writing: which property goes first, what the team learns from it, and what must be true before the largest hotel switches.

The integration list is the second item to check. Single sign-on, invoicing, purchase order workflows and financial reporting are back-office connections that a front desk demo rarely covers, and the release says Stayntouch built enhancements for them during the rollout. Stayntouch also cites a library of more than 1,400 integrations in its company description. Buyers can ask which of the connections they depend on are in that library today and which would be built for them.

Imperial’s mix of one 1,379-room hotel with boutique and mid-size properties also matters for owners who run a similar spread. A single PMS across that range means one set of reports and one set of training, and the release says Stayntouch “now runs the operations of one of the largest hotels in Europe, alongside boutique and mid-size properties in the same portfolio.”

What the release leaves open

The release carries no metrics on check-in times, front desk staffing, cost or revenue after go-live, and the claims about wait times and disruption come from Stayntouch and Imperial’s own statements. Hotel groups comparing vendors can request customer references from properties of a similar size and ask for the actual before-and-after figures. Stayntouch names Sage Hospitality, HEI Hotels & Resorts, EOS Hospitality and Village Hotels among its other customers, which gives buyers a starting list for those reference calls.
