Hilton launched Pay with Points on October 21, letting Hilton Honors members with Silver, Gold, Diamond or Diamond Reserve status apply points to eligible hotel charges during Digital Check Out in the Hilton Honors App, according to Hilton’s announcement.
Members review their folio, choose from the available redemption options and apply points without visiting the front desk. The benefit is live at 150 participating hotels in the U.S. Hilton says it expects more than 800 hotels by the end of 2026 and more than 6,000 properties in the U.S. and Canada in early 2027. Hilton cites its own research: 70% of Honors members surveyed are interested in using points on property, and about half said the option could make them more likely to stay or book with Hilton. Hilton also describes itself as the first major hotel brand to offer this through a fully digital check out.
What it means for operators
In our reading, the rollout schedule sets the workload. 150 hotels is 2.5% of the 6,000 properties Hilton names for early 2027, and the planned jump to 800 falls in roughly ten weeks. Owners and franchisees in that wave will be asked to support a points payment that posts to the guest folio, so a general manager should ask Hilton now which charges count as eligible, how a redemption appears in the property management system and how the hotel is reimbursed for points applied. The release answers none of these and says availability and eligible redemption options may vary by property.
Front desk teams lose the check out conversation for these guests, since the release says no front desk assistance is required. For related loyalty and technology moves, see our coverage of Hilton’s new chief technology officer and DoorDash’s DashOS.
