BWH Hotels said on October 27 that it is becoming WorldHotels, and that Best Western Rewards and WorldHotels Rewards will merge into one loyalty program on January 5, 2027.
According to the company’s announcement, the change covers more than 4,000 hotels across 18 brands in over 100 countries. The combined program has 70 million members and three membership tiers, and it keeps current benefits including status matching, member rates and points that never expire. Further program details are due November 16. Property signage and brand flags stay as they are.
WorldHotels also says it has launched a new website and a redesigned mobile app, built around “a proprietary discovery platform” drawn from more than 10,000 hours of input from hotel teams. The company ties the platform to direct-booking visibility for hotel owners. The release groups the upscale and luxury hotels under a WorldHotels Collection with six categories.
What it means for operators
Hilton’s third-quarter results release puts Hilton Honors at more than 270 million members, so the merged program is roughly a quarter of that size. For owners of Best Western, SureStay and Aiden properties, the useful comparison is how much direct demand a loyalty base of that size can send, which the release does not quantify.
The release also does not say whether property systems such as the central reservation system or PMS need changes before the January launch. Franchisees and general managers should put that question to the franchisor before the November 16 briefing.
