Restaurant Brands International said on October 29 that it has funded $198 million of the up to $550 million planned for Burger King US’s Royal Reset investments as of September 30.

According to RBI’s third quarter 2026 results, Royal Reset covers remodels and relocations, restaurant technology, kitchen equipment and building enhancements. It sits inside a $700 million Reclaim the Flame plan that runs through year-end 2028. The second quarter release put the funded figure at $194 million as of June 30, so the reported total rose $4 million in the quarter. Burger King US comparable sales rose 8.4% in the third quarter against 3.2% a year earlier, and the system ended September with 6,979 restaurants, down from 7,043.

What it means for operators

In our reading, 36% of the ceiling is spent with nine quarters left. Reaching $550 million by the end of 2028 would take about $39 million a quarter on average, nearly ten times the latest quarter’s pace. RBI does not say the spend will be even, and it does not split out how much of the figure is restaurant technology, so franchisees cannot read the technology share from this release.

Franchisees weighing a point-of-sale, kitchen display or drive-thru upgrade should ask the brand how much of the remaining budget funds technology and when it lands before committing their own capital.
